Platinum Downgrade Retention and Publication
When Platinum access ends, private observations and grow journals are locked for 120 days. If access is not restored, those records become public at day 120 and the publication time is recorded. We schedule notices at access end, day 90, and day 113. Locked records cannot be individually viewed, edited, deleted, or manually published during the window, although account-wide deletion remains available. Saved spots remain private, stored, inaccessible after downgrade, and are never automatically published. Enhanced website and social fields remain privately stored but are hidden publicly while Platinum is inactive.
1. Who We Are
Dr. MycoTek is an AI-powered mycology education tool operated by Nature Lion Inc., a Canadian corporation based in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. When this policy refers to “we,” “us,” or “our,” it means Nature Lion Inc.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: Email address and password when you create an account.
- Chat messages: The questions you ask and the AI responses you receive. We store these to improve our service and for quality assurance.
- Photos: Images you upload — whether to a chat message, a wild observation, or a grow journal — are stored on our servers. Public observations appear on the community feed and map with location obscured by about 10 km; private observations (a paid feature) are visible only to you. Photos are kept with their record until you delete it or request account deletion.
- Location data: If you choose to add a location to a wild observation, we store precise coordinates in an owner-protected field and expose only the obscured public location. Grow records do not require a location. General location requests used by browsing tools do not become a record unless you explicitly save them.
- Usage data: Basic usage metrics such as the number of questions asked, subscription tier, and feedback (thumbs up/down).
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, and general device category (mobile/desktop) collected automatically through standard web protocols.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the service: Process your questions, generate AI responses, and display relevant species and contamination information.
- Improve accuracy: Analyze anonymized chat data to improve our AI's mycology knowledge and response quality.
- Account management: Manage your subscription, track usage limits, and provide customer support.
- Inbox verification: Send a user-requested, expiring one-time link for checkout and email-based benefit claims. We retain the normalized email, a one-way token hash, delivery/attempt timestamps, and verification audit timestamps; we do not store the plaintext verification token.
- Safety: Monitor for misuse and ensure our platform is used responsibly.

- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
- We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
- We do not expose a saved observation’s precise coordinates through public views.
- We do not share your chat content with other users.

Chat messages and usage logs are retained for up to 12 months for quality improvement purposes, after which they are automatically deleted. Account information is retained for the duration of your account. If you delete your account, all associated personal data will be removed within 30 days.

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your personal information.
- Withdraw consent for data processing.

Deletion is not a paid feature. Every signed-in owner can delete an observation or grow from its record screen. This immediately hides the record from your library and all public views. For an account-wide request, export, a record you cannot access, or questions about legal/backup retention, email the address above. Applicable exceptions may require limited retention; we will explain any exception that applies.

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
9. Children's Privacy
Dr. MycoTek is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
